The Mental Side of Hockey Program

Module 1:  The Winning Mindset; Your Path to Success

Establishing a strong winning mindset early on in hockey is critical to the future success of your game.  Your outlook and attitude play an important role.  This TGI session will help you to understand how to develop, access, and to integrate your winning mindset.  A strong winning mindset will help you to shift and focus yourself quickly-, and effectively-, during your game.  The winning mindset IS the path to your success.  
  
Module 2:  Losing; Turning Your Loss into a Win
After a loss, your focus and confidence, individually-, and as a team, can be shaken.  The goal of this TGI session is to help you to re-focus your thinking and feelings around the loss quickly.  TGI will help you to do this by encouraging you to pull from those losses, an individual or team lesson that can immediately be applied in a positive way to the next game.  Turning a loss into a win is a decision you make, a decision to transform the loss into something positive, something useful, rather than carrying the loss as a burden.  

Module 3:  Team Player; Achieving the Common Goal
Hockey is not an individual sport, and to have a strong cohesive and productive team, you must be prepared to be an enthusiastic and dedicated team player – always!  This TGI session will help you to develop and share the greatest parts of what you can offer your team.  Achieving the Common Goal is about your commitment to the team, to the game and to the win. 

Module 4:  Game Day; Pulling it all Together
In all sports, game day is a critical time when you expect the most from your body.  To achieve that, you must also use the power of your mind.  Pulling it all together is about getting yourself ‘mentally prepared’ for the game.  Playing with laser focus, eliminating distractions, and visualizing yourself just playing great hockey, visualizing your team winning.  Listening to this TGI session will prepare your body to follow your mind towards your goal - winning.

Module 5:  Practice; Sharpening Your Skills
Good practice habits are the cornerstone to playing great hockey.  Practicing with the right attitude and work ethic is what it takes to achieve success. These are concepts that every player needs to carry into their practices.  In using this TGI session you will be encouraged to demonstrate a commitment of working hard, arriving to practice with a positive and productive attitude, and learning the importance of really sharpening your skills.  

Module 6:  Focus; Performing in the Zone
Focus is one of the KEY ingredients of a successful hockey player.  What we focus on, we create.  This TGI session; Performing in the Zone was designed to help further develop and strengthen your focus and concentration.  When you use the power of your mind to visualize yourself performing your best; you will be building and strengthening the muscle memory in your body to do just that – perform in the zone.  

Module 7:  Pressure; Turning Pressure into Power
Pressure can come from many sources, good or bad, and can cause you to loose confidence and trust in your abilities to play well.  This can negatively impact your game.  By Turning Pressure into Power, you will master the ability to maintain focus despite all the outside pressures.  Your subconscious mind can be programmed to resist the distractions of pressure and transform it to motivate you in a positive way.  This will give you more mental and physical power over your game.  Maintaining power, under pressure, is what every great athlete strives to achieve. 

Module 8:  Mental Toughness; The Making of a Champion
When you are mentally tough you are able to handle all different kinds of stress or pressures that could otherwise affect your game or your team.  You are able to control your emotions and feelings with maturity and wisdom; learning from all your hockey experiences.  In this TGI session; you will be encouraged to further develop and strengthen this state of mind so that you can rise to all occasions, clear and focused - and thrive.  Being mentally tough is the hallmark of a champion. 

Module 9:  Playoff & Tournament Hockey; Taking Your Game to the Next Level
This TGI session is designed to help you become more fully aware of the preparation that is critical to your game, when you begin season’s playoffs or when your team participates in competitive league tournaments.  During this time you will be expected to be performing at your peak, so staying physically strong, mentally focused on your goals and being fully prepared.  Being physically and mentally prepared is the only way to take your game to the next level. 

Module 10:  Off Season; How to Pace & When to Peak
The off season offers a chance to get away from the rigors of the hockey season but requires you to create a new plan that will have you ready when it’s time to begin pre-season workouts.  Maintaining a well established mind/body connection is very important and visualizing your goals in your mind will help you reach them.  Reflection upon your past games and visualization of what you want to improve and where you want to be next season will be as important as your physical workouts.  Your off season must be paced allowing you to peak at the right time, ready to show improvement.  Using this TGI session will assist you to become motivated and ready to perform.

alm01 - Goal Setting for Success
In this Transformational Guided Imagery (TGI) session, you are going to be setting goals and increasing your confidence in the classroom. Your mind remembers and recalls information simultaneously; by placing a goal in your mind, you are going to build a believability factor that what your mind can conceive, your mind can achieve. Your first goal is relaxation; the deeper you relax the more capable and able your mind will be to learn. Your mind is absorbing information that is being presented to you and allowing this information to be categorized and organized in your mind so you can efficiently and effectively recall that information when you need it most. You will remember these things in a way that is going to be most meaningful to you and help you through testing situations.  

alm05 - Emulating Highly Successful Students
Using the ability you had as a child when you were first learning from your environment and from family members; you learned to imitate the things they did. In this creative journey, use your mind to increase your memory to recall information. You will do this by what you see, hear and experience, using all of your senses to increase your capacity to learn. You will emulate other students who have the capacity to learn even the most difficult subject by observing them. You will imagine what it is like through the eyes, ears and feelings of the most highly successful student you know and the student you can be and apply that knowledge by using the creative process you were born with. 

alm06 - Using your Creative Mind to Solve Problems
There is a part of your mind that knows how to solve your everyday problems. That creative part of your mind will begin to incorporate into your dreams the solutions to your problems by activating your creative mind, your innate intelligence, the super aware consciousness that operates in that that space of infinite possibilities. It is where your creativity and imagination work together to help you find dream solutions to your problems. You will develop solution consciousness, solution awareness. 

alm08 - Achieving Self-Confidence in Learning
In this session we are going to increase your confidence with learning. This is going to help support the belief in yourself that you can absorb and take in any knowledge on any subject that you would like to study; you have everything that it takes right now. You will Increase your confidence for learning through deep relaxation and visualization. Your mind has an unlimited amount of space for information and a person only comprehends a fact, concept or lesson if it is totally impressed upon the sub-conscious mind. You will have the intense desire of learning lessons and obtaining the complete confidence of knowing the material very well.  

alm10 - Turning Homework Procrastination into Motivation
You are going to find that your mind will make homework more fun and enjoyable; it begins with a thought. As you allow that thought to permeate and reorganize the way you think about homework; you will get more done in less time. You are going to find the way to master the steps that will take procrastination and transform it into motivation. You will be able to learn more, attain more information, and do even better work by focusing your mind. You will find that you are absorbing the information, and during a testing situation, that information will be stored, categorized and organized in the library of your mind for perfect recall. You experience the sensation and knowing that you learned something meaningful, and you become more motivated into completing your homework assignments.

alm12 - Eliminating Self-Sabotaging Behaviors
In this TGI session, you will focus on eliminating negative thoughts, negative concepts and negative behaviors from your mind and eradicate them from your awareness. You will eliminate those behaviors that are preventing you from excelling in the classroom. Your mind is going to focus on excellence; if you achieve it in your mind, you will achieve it in your life. You will concentrate on results and results will show up in the form of grades. You will focus on success which starts with an attitude, and your attitude will be one of gratitude. With this attitude of gratitude you are going to eliminate old sabotaging thoughts, ideas or concepts from your mind.
