BRENDAN PERLINI
OHL Niagara Icedogs
2014 NHL Draft Pick - 12th Overall
TGI KEY User Since 2011

"I knew right from the first time I used it that this was something that got me in a relaxing state and made me think more about the mental side of the game.
I use the KEY at least once every day and every game day right before my pregame nap. The KEY refuels my confidence and commitment level, it relaxes me into a mental trance where my muscles can recover fast and are feeling great after and it gets me thinking about the game, makes me visualize what I’m going to do on the ice that night, where I’m going to shoot, where I’m going to skate.
I began to notice the results in my bantam and midget year, I felt more at ease coming into games, and knew that I was going to be the best player I could. This resulted in a first round selection in the Ontario Hockey League and 12th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.
The best skill I think I have learnt from using the KEY is to mentally visualize how I am going to play, it definitely changes my mood and makes me work hard.
The KEY has been a huge part of how I have gotten here to this point today.
It has made me mentally stronger, it has taught me methods on how to relax in certain situations, and shown me that by accessing my mental ability there is no limit on what I can achieve, not only in hockey but in life.
I recommend that if you want to drastically improve on your game, you should have one of these. It teaches you a lot, it relaxes you as well as heals your negative mind."

Questions & Answers
About the TGI KEY Device
How did you come to know about the TGI KEY Device?
"I first learnt about the KEY when I was in bantam, my agent Jason Woolley, TPG Hockey, suggested that I give this thing called the “KEY” a try. I never really looked too much into it and just tried it and I knew right from the first time I used it that this was something that got me in a relaxing state and made me think more about the mental side of the game, and also that it was going to be hard for me to stop using it."
How long and how often do you use the TGI KEY?
"I use the KEY at least once every day, for whether it be hockey or school, or even to get into a relaxing state. I use it for the 15 or 20 minute programs. Also every game day right before my pregame nap I use it to get me in the right mindset and thinking about my game that night."
How do you use the TGI KEY to help you prepare for a game?
"The KEY helps me prepare for the game in a few ways. 1, it refuels my confidence and commitment level by telling me over and over that I am a great player and have been playing great. 2, it relaxes me into a mental trance where my muscles can recover fast and are feeling great after. 3, gets me thinking about the game, makes me visualize what I’m going to do on the ice that night, where I’m going to shoot, where I’m going to skate."
How has the TGI KEY helped you in practice and everyday hockey preparation?
"The KEY has helped me tremendously in practice because it makes me determined to do what I can to get better, not only on the ice but mentally too. It makes me realize the time and commitment I have to give every day to be able to reach my goals."
In what ways has the TGI KEY helped you that no other training product has?
"I have read many books on the subconscious mind, and there are very much some similarities, but the thing I like about the KEY is you do not have to read a 300 page book for a couple months to learn how to relax and prepare using your mental mindset. It does everything for you. You sit back, relax, and listen. Also, one of the best parts is it’s portable and very easy to use."
How long did it take from when you first started using the TGI KEY until you saw it begin to effect and improve your game?
"I think at first I didn’t really know what to do, I was always use to moving around and not really thinking about my game that it took me some getting used to, but through my experience, just relax and stay calm. When I began to notice the results were in my bantam and midget year, I felt more at ease coming into games, and knew that I was going to be the best player I could. This resulted in a first round selection in the Ontario Hockey League."
What are some of the best skills that the TGI KEY has helped you develop by using it?
"The best skill I think I have learnt from using the KEY is to mentally visualize how I am going to play. Mental visualization is huge and when you can see yourself doing successful things in your head, it definitely changes my mood and makes me work hard."
Example: Friday January 10th, 2014, Niagara Icedogs vs Kitchener Rangers.
"Before the game I was looking at the ice from the bench, and was visualizing how I was going to play that night. I imagined I was going to score 3 goals and play a really solid game. Come the third period I had just scored my 2nd goal of the game, and when I got back to the bench after all the celebrating, I sat down, had a drink and visualized myself again scoring that 3rd goal. Then come the next shift it was exactly how I had played it out in my imagination, and I made the play I wanted for my 3rd goal, just as I imagined. The KEY has taught me how to successfully visualize to do things like this."
How are these skills important and useful to you in the professional level?
"I am always looking for ways to get better and to have an edge on the opposition, improving your mental game is something to take very seriously because if you are not doing it, you know they are. If you look at the best athletes ever, Tiger Woods – mentally intimidates his opponents before they even tee off on the first hole, he has an edge an overcomes them. Michael Jordan has overcome a lot, he got cut from his grade 12 basketball team, he was mentally tough enough to overcome and keep working thru this to become one of the best players ever. Things like this are all taught in the KEY, and why I personally believe I have done so well this year.”
How instrumental has the TGI KEY been in helping you make it to the NHL draft level?
